FERCHAUD'S MYSTERY

Ferchaud's Eclipse X Ferchaud's Wildbird

Mystery has an interesting story, he was mistaken for another rabbit in the barn that I was keeping just to keep an old time bloodline alive. For months I just moved him from cage to cage.  3 weeks before convention, I decided I didn't want to bother keeping those extra rabbits, so I took him out to evaluate, and was I surprised to see what he had blossomed into! The twist come when I looked at his ear number and  realized that the rabbit I had been moving around was not the one I thought it had been, I had forgotten all about this one, so at 8 months of age he came out of the barn and went to his very first show ever, the Louisville Convention, where he placed 3rd in Sr bucks right behind Crossfire!

Once the website is more up to date, you'll see references throughout to  Nemo X Lite and Highway X Sparrow babies. These 2 crosses  produced what I consider to be  the template animals for my line of Rhinelanders. Please read Mike Avesing's article for further explanation of template animals and how linebreeding influences and strengthens a line of rabbits.
I exploded my breeding program first around the Nemo X Lite babies, then 3 years later the Highway X Sparrow cross. By  linebreeding  and inbreeding these and producing so many excellent animals that the loss of the foundation  animals did not impact on my breeding program.
